Hudson wrapped up their 2010 campaign by finishing 3rd place of 4 participants at the Wisconsin American Legion AAA Regional Tournament held in Superior, WI. Hudson opened up the weekend on Thursday evening with a 12-2 loss to Chippewa Falls, but then bounced back on Friday afternoon to beat Superior 11-5. Later on Friday, Hudson once again faced Chippewa Falls but fell by a final score of 18-1.
The local Legion boys finished the year with an 11-15-1 record, a .284 batting average and a 5.56 team ERA. Hudson finished the season strong as they were winners of 5 of their last 8 games of the season.

Hudson Tops River Falls in Bottom of 7th
The Raiders were back in action after going 3-1 over the weekend in the Madison area. Hudson hosted River Falls on Tuesday evening and won in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the 7th inning by a final score of 7-6.
Brett Steinwagner started on the mound for the Raiders and pitched 6 complete innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits and striking out two opposing hitters. Brian DePauw came into the game to pitch the 7th inning and earned himself the victory as he struck out one River Falls hitter and kept the game tied going into the bottom of the 7th inning.
Offensively the Raiders plated 7 runs on the power of 9 hits, 9 walks, 3 hit batters and a stolen base. The Raiders fell behind 2-0 after 2 innings but struck for 2 runs to tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd when Brett Steinwagner drove in Gordon Johnson and Andrew Entenza on a ball hit to the shortstop who was unable to field it. The Raiders struck again in the 4th inning when both Brian DePauw and Ben Christensen added 2 RBI singles to put Hudson up 6-2. River Falls battled back and tied the game at 6-6 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Billy Sarno led off with a single and Brian DePauw followed with a single to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Jon Stoffer provided a beautiful sacrifice bunt to move Sarno and DePauw to 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Drew Entenza was then intentionally walked to load the bases for the Raiders. With the River Falls outfield playing shallow, Ben Christensen launched a pitch over the centerfielder's head to score the winning run.

Legion Wins Three of Four at Madison Trip
The Raiders traveled to the Madison area this weekend to take on 3 quality opponents in Waunakee, Baraboo and Middleton. Coach Pavlue graduated from Waunakee High School in 2007. Baraboo is a traditionally strong baseball school within the same conference in which Coach Pavlue played baseball, and Middleton is a top-notch program which is usually ranked in the top 5 teams in the WIAA each spring season.
Hudson opened up the weekend with a 14-5 win over Waunakee on Friday evening. On Saturday morning, the Raiders handled Baraboo 8-3 but lost the second game of the doubleheader in a close 6-5 decision. On Sunday, Hudson shocked the home Middleton crowd as they topped Middleton by a final score of 7-4.

7/16 @ Waunakee
Kellen Pearson made his 4th start of the season as he helped boost Hudson to a 14-5 victory over Coach Pavlue's high school alma mater. Pearson pitched a 7-inning complete game and improved to 3-2 on the season as he struck out 8 Warrior hitters and gave up just 3 earned runs. Offensively, the Raiders were clicking on all cylinders as they exploded for arguably their best offensive performance of the summer. All together, Hudson collected 14 runs on 14 hits, swiped 6 bags and walked 6 times. Andrew Entenza led the way as he reached base in 4 of his 5 plate appearances and finished 3-4 with 4 runs, 2 singles, a double, a stolen base and 2 RBI. Brett Steinwagner also collected 3 hits, two of which were doubles, and plated 4 runners as he finished 3-5 on the evening. Lawrence Pruitt and Erik Benzinger also each added two hits of their own as Pruitt finished 2-3 with 3 RBI and Benzinger finished 2-2 with 2 RBI.

Steinwagner pitched a 7-inning complete game and earned himself the victory. Steinwagner struck out 8 hitters and gave up just 2 earned runs as he propelled the Raiders to an 8-3 victory. Offensively the Raiders remained hot as they plated 8 runs on the power of 12 hits, 3 stolen bases and 6 walks. The Raiders were led by Derek Krumrei who finished the game 2-4 with a critical go-ahead 3 RBI double in the top of the 7th inning. Erik Benzinger continued to swing a hot bat as he came off of the bench and collected a RBI double and a RBI single in the 6th and 7th innings as he finished 2-2 in the game.

The second game of the twinbill on Saturday featured Hudson's Jon Stoffer making his 4th start of the summer on the mound. Despite Jon's effective pitching performance, the Raiders were unable to squeak passed Baraboo in game two as they lost by a final score of 6-5. Stoffer pitched 5 and 2/3 innings and struck out 3 Thunderbird hitters along they way. Brian DePauw made his second appearance of the summer and his first appearance as a reliever in the bottom of the 6th inning as he displayed great poise and concentration to retire the first hitter he saw after coming into the game with the bases loaded with a 1-run deficit. Offensively Hudson continued to swing the bat well as they collected 5 runs on 10 hits, stole 6 bases and walked 3 times. The Raiders were once again led by Derek Krumrei who singled three times in the game and finished 3-4 with a RBI. Andrew Entenza continued to swing a hot bat as he hit his team-leading 2nd homerun (a 3-run HR) of the season in the 5th inning and finished the game 2-4 with a run, a stolen base and 3 RBI. Kory Koller added a double and a single and scored twice in a 2-4 effort and Brett Steinwagner also added 2 hits and finished 2-4 with a RBI and a double in the game.

Hudson came into Sunday's game vs. Middleton as large underdogs but proved to the home crowd that they cannot be taken easily as they pulled off an upset 7-4 victory. Cory Larson made the start on the mound and pitched a 7-inning complete game as he earned himself and the team one of the biggest victories of their young careers. Larson gave up just 4 runs on 5 hits and struck out 7 Cardinal hitters. With the win, Larson maintained his team-leading ERA which is now at an impressive 1.91. Offensively the Raiders got ahead early as they struck for 4 runs in the top of the first inning courtesy of an RBI single by Brett Steinwagner, a 2 RBI single from Erik Benzinger and a RBI single from Lawrence Pruitt. Middleton fought back in the bottom of the 2nd inning as they plated 4 runs on 3 hits to tie the game at 4-4. Cory Larson settled in nicely as he pitched a scoreless 3rd inning. In the top of the 4th inning, the Raiders struck again and regained the lead courtesy of a 2 RBI single from Derek Krumrei and a successful suicide squeeze from Kellen Pearson. With the three runs, the Raiders were up 7-4. Cory Larson took the mound with a lead in the bottom of the 4th inning and didn't look back as he shut down a talented Middleton offense to earn the Raiders a hard-fought and well-deserved upset victory. Offensively the Raiders were led by Erik Benzinger who finished 2-4 with 2 RBI and Derek Krumrei who finished 1-4 with 2 RBI. Kory Koller also added a single and a double in the game and finished 2-3 with two runs and a walk.

Hudson Goes 1-2 in Last 3 Games of River Falls Tournament
Hudson dropped two games on Saturday against Mankato, MN and Rosemount, MN before coming back to beat Woodbury, MN on Sunday to finish the River Falls Tournament with a 1-3 record.
Hudson began Saturday's games matched up with Mankato, MN. The Raiders got on the board right away in the first inning when they plated three runs courtesy of a sac fly by Derek Krumrei and a 2 RBI single by Kellen Pearson. In the third inning, Lawrence Pruitt led off with a triple and scored on the next pitch when Brett Steinwagner singled. The Raiders were unable to score the rest of the game. Andrew Entenza and Kory Koller also added singles in the game for Hudson. Kellen Pearson started on the mound for the Raiders and pitched a 6-inning complete game despite receiving the loss for his tremendous performance. Pearson struck out two and gave up 4 earned runs throughout his six innings of work. Despite great pitching and good offense, the Raiders were unable to hold onto the lead and lost to Mankato by a score of 5-4.

Larson left the game after the first inning with back pain, but Stoffer picked up the slack and kept the Rosemount hitters guessing and the Raiders in the game. Hudson Drops a Close Contest at Prescott
Hudson traveled to Prescott for a Wednesday evening game. Despite the looming rain, the Raiders were able to get the game in on what turned out to be a decent evening in terms of weather. The Raiders battled throughout the game but fell just short, dropping the game by a final score of 5-4.
Cory Larson started on the mound for Hudson and pitched 3 1/3 innings, striking out 3and giving up just 1 unearned run on 2 hits before leaving the game with back pain. Jon Stoffer came in to throw 2 1/3 innings in relief, striking out 1 and giving up 3 runs. Kellen Pearson pitched the last out of the 6th inning and started the 7th inning until Prescott rallied to win the game in the bottom of the 7th. Pearson gave up 1 run in 1/3 inning of work.

Hudson Splits Pair of Games in Firecracker Classic
Hudson headed to Apple Valley, Minnesota to participate in the Firecracker Classic Tournament. Hudson began the tournament with a 4-2 win over Westside and concluded the day with a well-fought 6-3 loss to Thunder Bay, Cananda. Game one saw Hudson's Kellen Pearson throw a 7-inning complete game in which he gave up just two runs and struck out 10 Westside hitters along the way. Pearson earned the victory and moved to 2-0 on the season. Offensively the Raiders were lead b Ben Christensen who was 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI. In game two, the Raiders jumped ahead 3-1 courtesy of a Kory Koller RBI single in the first inning and a Kellen Pearson two RBI double in the second inning. Despite great piching from Hudson starter Lawrence Pruitt, the Raiders were unable to muster up anymore runs and eventually fell to Thunder Bay by a final score of 6-3. The Raiders will play their last game of pool play in the tournament on Saturday evening. vs Apple Valley beginning at 8PM.

Raiders Lose to Chippewa Falls 12-1
Hudson was back in action on Wednesday night as they hosted Chippewa Falls. The Raiders struggled as they dropped the contest by a score of 12-1. Offensively the Raiders were led by Billy Sarno who continued to swing a hot bat as he collected the loan Raider RBI and finished 1-2 with a single and 1 RBI. Austin Lenzen, Lawrence Pruitt and Brian DePauw all added singles and Parker McNamee doubled and scored the Raiders lone run.
Jon Stoffer started on the bump for the Raiders and despite struggling stayed in the game to pitch 4 complete innings against a strong hitting Chippewa Falls squad. Billy Sarno pitched a scoreless 5th inning of the shortened 10-run rule game.
The Raiders will look to rebound as they head to Apple Valley this weekend for the "Firecracker Classic" tournament. Eau Claire Edges Hudson 6-4
The Raiders hosted Eau Claire on Tuesday evening in a game which featured yet another great pitching performance from the Raider pitching staff. Brett Steinwagner threw 6 full innings, striking out 4 Eau Claire hitters along the way. Kellen Pearson threw a scoreless 7th inning to keep his ERA at a team best 0.00.
Offensively the Raiders put forth 4 runs on 7 hits. Kory Koller led the way finishing 2-3 with two singles, a stolen base, a run scored and 1 RBI. Raiders Go 3-1 in Two Weekend Doubleheaders
The Raiders were back in action on Saturday and Sunday afternoon as they hosted Stillwater for a Saturday doubleheader and traveled to Somerset on Sunday for another twinbill. The Raiders won the first game of the doubleheader vs. Stillwater 4-0 but then dropped the second game by a final score of 9-1. On Sunday, the Raiders swept Somerset by scores of 7-2 and 13-0.
STILLWATER GAME ONE
Cory Larson continued his mastery on the mound as he threw a 7-inning complete game shutout, his second of the season in just three starts. Larson struckout 7 Stillwater hitters, walked just 1 and only allowed 4 hits. Larson earned his first win of the year and improved to 1-0 on the season and reduced his already stellar ERA to a remarkable 0.39
Offensively the blue and white pouned out 7 hits, 2 each from Kory Koller and Derek Krumrei. Krumrei finished 2-3 with a run scored, a double and a walk and Koller finished 2-4 with a run scored, 2 singles, and a stolen base.

The highlight of Stoffer's pitching performance was not necessarily his numbers, but the toughness he displayed by remaining in the game and finishing the game after taking a line-drive off of his wrist in the 4th inning.
Offensively the Raiders collected 7 runs on 10 hits and were led by the bats of Andrew Entenza, Austin Lenzen and Billy Sarno. Entenza finished 2-2 with 2 runs, 2 hit-by-pitch, 1 RBI and a stolen base. Lenzen crushed a 2 run HR to left centerfield in the 1st inning and finished 2-4 with a run and 2 RBI. Sarno collected 2 singles, one of which was a beautifully placed bunt and finished 2-3. Kory Koller provided a clutch 2 RBI single in the 4th inning to put the Raiders ahead for good.

Pearson pitched a 5-inning complete game as he earned the win to move to 1-0 on the season. Pearson struck out 7 hitters, walked 3, and gave up 4 hits in his complete game effort.
Offensively the Raiders exploded for 13 runs on 8 hits as they won by the 10-run rule. Leading the charge was Andrew Entenza who smashed a 3-run HR over the left field fence in the 2nd inning to put the Raiders on top 4-0. Entenza doubled the very next inning which drove in another run. Entenza finished 2-4 with 1 run, a double, a HR and 4 RBI as he improved his batting average to .429 which is currently the team's best. Lawrence Pruitt collected 2 hits, one of which was an RBI double in the 4th inning. Pruitt finished 2-3 with 2 runs, a double, a stolen base and 1 RBI. Derek Krumrei chipped in with a 3 run double in the 4th inning to put the Raiders ahead by 13 runs. Krumrei finished 1-4 with a run, a double and 3 RBI.
WEEKEND SUMMARY

Raiders Fall to Tri-City Red 5-0
The Raiders hosted Tri-City Red (Mounds View, MN) for a home game on Tuesday night and dropped a 5-0 decision. Brett Steinwagner put forth a great pitching effort, going 6 complete innings, striking out 5 batters and walking just 2 hitters. Parker McNamee pitched a scoreless 7th inning and struck out a batter.
Offensively the Raiders were held to just 4 hits. Kory Koller, Derek Krumrei and Lawrence Pruitt all collected singles, and Ben Christensen doubled in the 3rd inning and finished 1-2.

Hudson Loses a Thriller to New Richmond 6-5
The Raiders were back in action on Monday night at Citizen's Field in New Richmond. Cory Larson once again provided a great pitching performance throwing 4 complete innings, giving up 3 runs, only 1 of which was earned, 2 hits, striking out 6 and only walking one in a no-decision. Jon Stoffer once again proved to be a dependable and effective reliever as he pitched the 5th and 6th innings, striking out 3 and giving up his only runs on a well hit 3-run HR by New Richmond.
Offensively the Raiders were led by Andrew Entenza (1B) who finished 2-3 with 2 singles, a walk and 1 RBI. Gordon Johnson also added a timely 2-RBI single in the 5th inning and Brett Steinwagner drove in 2 more on a 2-out double and finished 1-4 with 2 RBI. Ben Christensen, Derek Krumrei, Luke Miller and Lawrence Pruitt also all added hits for the Raiders.
The Raiders headed into the top of the 7th inning down one run and put up a strong fight when Derek Krumrei doubled with two outs and Brett Steinwagner reached on an error to put runners on 1st and 3rd with two outs. The Raiders could not capitalize, but definitely played an excellent game which is a great sign for the summer.

Raiders Go 1-1-1 in Hudson Woodbat Tournament
The Raiders kicked off their 2010 season with the annual Hudson Woodbat Tournament. The Raiders placed 5th out of 6 teams with a tournament record of 1-1-1. The Raiders tied with Somerset (1-1) on Friday afternoon, lost to Prescott (0-9) and beat St. Paul Arcadia-Phalen on Saturday afternoon (10-1).
The Raiders were led offensively by Gordon Johnson who went 5-9 on the weekend with a double, 3 runs scored, an RBI and 3 stolen bases. Derek Krumrei also added 4 singles this weekend and went 4-9 with an RBI and a stolen base.
The Raiders received great pitching performances from all of their hurlers. Schedule Updates
The practice and game schedules have been revised and now are up to date as of 6/10. I will communicate any changes in the schedule ASAP via email, phone or website.
6/14 Doubleheader vs. Eden Prairie Cancelled
The 6/14 Doubleheader at home vs. Eden Prairie has been cancelled due to the Eden Prairie HS baseball team advancing to the Minnesota State HS Tournament. Our first game will now by 6/15 @ Menomonie.

Pre-Season Player/Parent Meeting
There will be a brief pre-season player & parent meeting at the Village Inn Sports Bar & Grill in North Hudson on MONDAY JUNE 7th @ 7:00PM. All players and at least one parent are encouraged to attend as many important items about the summer season will be discussed at the meeting. 2010 Schedule
